Circular economy adoption challenges in the food supply chain for sustainable development

Food loss and waste are major issues in the food industry, they affect all stages of supply chain (FSC). linked to environmental deterioration, economic loss, an increase hunger. Therefore, industry requires sustainable consumption production (SCP) reduce losses waste. The circular economy (CE) concept has become a popular strategy for reducing boosting sustainability. with efficient reverse logistics FSC, producers can help achieve development goals (SDGs) like SCP zero In literature, minimal research been available identifying CE adoption challenges FSC. This identifies 15 critical from literature discussion panel experts. relationship between established through interpretive structural modeling (ISM) technique. were characterized cause–effect according their relational intensity obtained using grey decision-making trial evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) Grey's theory is applied DEMATEL minimize uncertainty vagueness expert judgment. findings this study suggest that creating policy government, providing incentives, strictly enforcing regulations most challenge. Hence, by focusing on above, effective principle achieved. result also suggests addressing CE, corporate social responsibility (CSR) be performed. provides some recommendations practitioners adopt towards targets.
